FAQS

What makes your services different from other designers?

We lead with listening. Every project begins by understanding how you live, what you value, and how you want your home to feel. From there, we blend styles, mix old and new, and curate warm, textural elements that feel collected rather than decorated. Natural materials—stone, wood, woven textures, layered fabrics—play a big role in creating spaces that tell a story and feel truly personal to you.

How does the consultation relate to the Design Concept (Phase 1)?

Every project begins with a paid Design Consultation. This working session allows us to understand your space, goals, and priorities, and determine overall scope. Following the consultation, we outline the Design Concept (Phase 1) and provide a service agreement if moving forward is a good fit.

The consultation is required to begin the process, but it does not obligate you to proceed into Phase 1.

Can I start with a smaller service and upgrade later?

Yes. Every project begins with the Design Concept. From there, you may move into Design Sourcing or Full-Service as your needs evolve. Work completed in earlier phases informs the next step, allowing you to move forward at a pace that feels right for you.

What if I live outside your area?

Many of our services can be completed virtually. Design Concept and Design Sourcing projects are often done remotely, while Full-Service projects require on-site availability depending on scope and location.

Do you work with contractors?

We do not hire contractors directly, but we collaborate closely with your selected team to ensure design intent is carried through. In Full-Service projects, we coordinate with contractors throughout execution to support design decisions, review details, and maintain alignment with the overall vision.

Do I need to know my style before we start?

Not at all. A core part of our process is helping you discover and define your style. Through thoughtful conversations and curated concepts, we translate your preferences into a cohesive design that feels authentic to you.

How does sourcing furniture and finishes work?

This depends on the service tier selected.

  • Design Sourcing: You’ll receive a curated sourcing list with selected furnishings, lighting, and materials, including direct purchase links. Clients purchase independently and manage ordering on their own timeline.

  • Full-Service Design: We manage purchasing, ordering, delivery coordination, and installation. A procurement fee applies to cover sourcing, order management, coordination, and project oversight.

How long does the process take?

Timelines vary based on scope and service tier. Design Concept and Design Sourcing projects typically move quickly, while Full-Service projects require additional time to accommodate sourcing, vendor lead times, and installation. Estimated timelines are outlined at the start of each phase.

How is pricing structured for each service?

Each phase includes defined deliverables and a set number of refinement rounds. Additional scope or revisions beyond what’s outlined are quoted separately.

  • Phase 1: Design Concept is a fixed fee based on room type and square footage.

  • Phase 2: Design Sourcing is priced by square footage and scope, with deliverables defined prior to work beginning.

  • Phase 3: Full-Service Design includes a procurement fee and a monthly project management retainer, outlined before commencement.

Do you require a retainer?

Yes. For full-service projects, we collect a project retainer at the start of Phase 3. The retainer is used to cover ongoing project management such as coordinating vendors, handling deliveries, managing timelines, troubleshooting issues, and supporting installation. We bill our time against this retainer throughout the project, and if the balance gets low, we simply replenish it together. Any unused portion is refunded at the end of the project.

Why is there both a procurement fee and a project management retainer?

The procurement fee covers the responsibility of sourcing, purchasing, and managing all design-related products, including vendor coordination, order placement, delivery tracking, and issue resolution.

The project management retainer covers ongoing oversight of the project, including coordination with vendors and contractors, timeline management, site visits, installation oversight, and final styling.

Together, these fees ensure both the products and the process are professionally managed from start to finish.
